Hey You! - Spread The Word
What word? What are we talking about here? Well, in this
case we are talking about the Word of God; specifically that part which deals with salvation. The Word of God says that
every human being ever born on this planet (with the exception of Jesus Himself), was, or will be born into sin because
of our ancestor, Adam, and if we do nothing we are guaranteed to spend eternity in a place called 'hell'-the horrors
of which the human mind cannot even begin to comprehend. But thanks be to God, for He sent forth a second 'Adam.'
This time it was His only begotten Son who, in fact, was God and who created the world, the universe and the galaxies.
Without Him, nothing was made that has been made.
The second 'Adam,' our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, came forth for but one reason: to be tortured, murdered and
three days later, to rise again from the dead and ascend into heaven that our sins would be paid in full; thus making
the way that no one would ever have to go to a Christ-less eternity. There are four simple things anyone can do and then
they will go, forever to be with Him in His glory, in heaven. Those four things are:
1). Admit you have been and are a sinner.
2). Believe that Jesus died on the cross, paying the price for all of your sins.
3). Confess your sins and repent unto God. Ask Him to forgive you and come into your heart and be Lord of your life.
4). Believe that Jesus has saved you, that you are now heaven-bound and that Jesus, the Father and the Holy Spirit
have come in to live and make their abode within you.
Just believe and know that this has happened. Thank Jesus and begin to testify and witness to all you know.
Witnessing you say. What is that? How do I do this? The Oxford dictionary defines 'witnessing' as: to see, or hear,
or experience something; and then to testifying to that experience by the telling of it. Now let me tell you what
witnessing is not: it is not grabbing your friend by the shirt and shouting 'I got saved and you're going to hell!'
It is not badgering people to go to church with you. It is not having an attitude toward everyone that still has a
bad reputation that they are scum, but you are now perfect. So you say to me-'well, how do I witness then?' That's
the beautiful part, you don't do anything. God does it all for you.
In the gospel of Matthew, chapter 10 and verses 19 & 20, the Word of God says; "Do not worry about what
to say or how to say it, for at that time you will be given what to say. For it will not be you speaking, but the Spirit
of your Father speaking through you." Why is witnessing so important? In fact, why is it a necessity? The
answer to that can be found in Romans 10:14: "How can they [the rest of the world], believe in the One of
whom they have not heard?" In other words, the horrible death Jesus suffered, even though He rose again and
ascended into heaven, even though the people can be set free from drugs, alcohol, sexual immorality, or any other sin;
it all will do no good unless someone goes and testifies-helps them-offers them a way out!
In Philippians 4:6 & 7, the Word of the Lord says, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything,
by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God, and the peace of God will guard your hearts and
minds in Christ Jesus." That would be perfect peace. Yet most people have never experienced even a few minutes
of perfect peace or the joy of the Lord. But we can have it for the asking.
Remember when you were a little kid and you thought that Jesus was warm and friendly and walked around in a long
white nightgown? Probably there are many adults who still have this image of the 'gentle Jesus, meek and mild.' What
a shock it must be for them to read both the story of Jesus turning over the tables of the moneychangers in the temple,
and the book of Revelation, and to find that the Apostle John, who used to lay his head on the breast of Jesus as they
sat at the table, seeing Jesus in all His glory and falling on his face as though dead, for he had beheld the
overwhelmingly powerful revelation of Jesus as God, the Son. There is no doubt that John never forgot that vision and
revelation, and neither should you!
Do not confuse meek with weak. Know for sure that God is not weak. In fact, He is the most powerful, awesome and
brilliant of all that there is or ever will be. He is so powerful He created the entire universe, all of the galaxies
and everything there is. The greatest news of all is, HE IS ON YOUR SIDE! For the will of God is that all men be saved
and come to a knowledge of the truth. And Jesus said, "I am the way and the truth and the life." He
wants you to spend an eternity with Him, filled with peace and joy and love, in heaven where there is no more strife.
However, your enemy, the Devil, wants you to spend eternity with him, in hell, which is unspeakable torment, pain and
misery in everlasting fire. Knowing this: how can we live out this life in the will of God and having a taste of the
abundant life that Jesus died to give us? Actually, it is very easy. We simply obey the Word of God from
2 Corinthians 4:18, which says "we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what
is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal." Also look in Hebrews 10:24 & 25, which
says "Now let us consider how we may spur one another on towards love and good deeds, and let us not give up
on meeting together as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another daily..."
Let me leave you with these words: "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. How, then, can
they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how
can they hear without someone preaching to them?" (This scripture comes from
Romans 10:13 & 14). We have been given the ministry of reconciliation; to reconcile the world unto
God-and we do this by testifying, by talking, by telling people. Do not let the Devil win by your silence. Everywhere
you go you will see someone in need of the 'good news' about Jesus. It is my prayer that you will have the strength
and courage to begin to go forth and boldly preach and proclaim the Word of the Lord. If the Devil throws up a
roadblock, go around it. If you are persecuted for speaking the truth from the Word of God, the Bible says to rejoice
and be glad, for you are exceedingly blessed. And each time you speak, be assured that the Word of the Lord will never
return unto Him void, but it will accomplish the work it was sent forth to do.
