A Cry For Repentance
Humbled at Your feet I come, unworthy of Your grace am I
I kneel at my Savior's feet, my sin so deep, my sin so high
All that is within me is turmoil and strife
Yet in thee oh Lord, I will humble myself
Your conviction is heavy, condemnation draws near
Pride comes to me, but Lord I will not fear
Come be my Savior, draw me from within
Out of my darkness, deliver me from sin
Sin, I will never be free of, but Lord, You give the grace
Please cleanse me Lord, that I may see Your face
Your face I do not deserve, Your grace I should not receive
Lord, please have mercy on me, because Your Spirit I have grieved
Lord change my heart, for I crave Your love
Make me as white as snow, as white and pure as a dove
As I humble myself, Lord be my guide, please dear Lord, never leave my side
I need you more than words can say; I need you each and every moment of the day
Acts 17:30 - In the past God overlooked such ignorance, but now he
commands all people everywhere to repent.
All throughout the Bible, the Lord gives us examples of what repentance is.
It means to weep, wail and tear your hair out. In the Old Testament times, this
is exactly what they did. They would even tear off the clothes they had on their
backs and cover themselves with sackcloth. Repentance was also done through
fasting, weeping and mourning. Many cried out on their faces before God. This
was and should be our way of humbling ourselves before the Lord.
The Lord not only tells us to repent, but commands us to do so, that we may
return to Him.
Repentance is something that is not seen very often in the house of God. It
is very sad to see that many of the hearts of man have hardened. Repentance is
rare and confessing sin is even rarer. The Lord tells us to humble ourselves,
which means to be rid of all pride and come before the Father. Confess the sin
before man for in doing so, you will break pride's hold and be free. For all
have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. Anyone you confess to has done
what you have or worse. Don't worry about what they think, get yourself right
with God.
We will never be completely free from the burden of sin until the day the
Lord comes for His bride, but the Lord tells us through His Living Word, that we
are to repent and change. We all know when we have sinned. We know when we have
stolen from our brothers and sisters. We know when we have lied. We know when we
have made accusations and judgments against someone. We know when we have
committed adultery against our husbands/wives/God.
Be encouraged dear brothers and sisters and know that repentance is not a bad
thing, but a great way of drawing near to our Father. It is laying down flesh
and running from pride that Christ might rule in this life we live. It is an
indication that you want Christ to be your only influence. It shows that you are
working out your salvation with fear and trembling before your Maker. Not
because you're afraid of Him, but because you love Him. He loved us that much to
send His one and only Son to take on the sins of the entire world. The Lord will
not turn you aside if your repentance is genuine and sincere.
