Chastisement Is An Indication of the
Father's Love
Revelations 3:19 - Those whom I love I rebuke and
discipline. So be earnest, and repent.
Without discipline, no one will make it into the gates of heaven. It should
be a blessing to know that our Father loves us so much that when we fall from
His grace, He will bring the rebuke and chastisement. Discipline comes when we
forsake the Lord and lean to our own understanding.
We tend to get upset when the Lord takes something away from us. We serve a
jealous God. When we do not listen and obey as He commands us to, He may have to
take away something so we may turn back to our first love. Our chastisement can
last as long as we want it to. The more we fight against the Lord, the longer
our time of discipline will be. Yet if we can but humble ourselves and run from
pride, He will be faithful and just to forgive us and deliver us out of the grip
of our fleshly lives.
Discipline should bring restoration, not condemnation. Correction produces
righteousness and perseverance and will be our guidance toward holiness. The
Lord tears and heals those He loves. The Lord gives and takes away. Whatever you
do, do not get mad at God or man, because all you are doing is making a hole for
yourself. The more you blame others for your circumstances the deeper the hole
gets.
If you are at a point in your life where the Lord has taken away your
finances, your home, your vehicle, your children, your world, do not get upset
with the situation. Change your way of thinking. Praise God that His hand is
upon your life and that He will be glorified because when He takes away, it can
draw us closer to Him.
The Lord tells us to be earnest. To be earnest, means to be diligent and to
hasten. Repentance means to change. No matter the sin, repent and change. Run
from the sin and hasten to the Father who loves you.
