Suicide - The Other Side Of The Trigger

Over the years I have had many friends and have known many other people who have told me the thought of suicide had come
to them at least once. For more than half of them it had come more than once, and a few had even tried taking their own
lives at some point. I struggle to understand what could possibly possess someone to think about ending his or her life
in such a cowardly way. I cannot think of anything that would drive me to want to kill myself. Nothing could possibly be
that bad.
I fail to believe that old standard line that 'the pain and suffering of their lives drove them to it.' Now before
you think that I am cold hearted and can't understand that kind of pain in life let me share some things with you,
because I've been there. I've known pain in my life; pain so bad that I wondered how I could ever get through it, but
never once did I ever consider suicide as a way out. Want to know what pain is? Pain is watching your father sit in
torment and agony every day of his life from an irreversible, degenerative illness that there is no cure for. He'll just
keep getting worse and worse unless the Lord heals him. Pain is watching him try to keep his kids from seeing him cry
from the excruciating pain this illness brings and knowing I can do nothing to help him except pray. Pain is holding
your mother in your arms while she cries out to God to help him. Pain is crying with her when we thought my dad was
going to die and knowing that there was nothing I could say to help her except, 'I love you Mom, don't worry God will
take care of us all'. Pain is looking at your 17-year-old brother who is blind in one eye and may possibly lose the
sight in the other and again being unable to help him. Pain is finding out over the phone that your 18-year-old sister
was in a fatal car wreck. Pain is being thousands of miles away from her when she needed you the most. Pain is watching
your brothers trying to understand why she had to die so young and why they didn't even have the chance to say good-bye
to her. Pain is watching your best friend slowly killing himself from alcohol and drug abuse and not being able to stop
it. Pain is finding out that your fiancé has gotten herself pregnant by someone else, and everyone seemed to know about
it but you. Pain is being alone. Oh yes, my friends, I know what pain is. What has kept me going and determined to
overcome the pain in my life is that I have Jesus as my Lord and Savior, as do my parents and brothers.
But if you really want to talk pain, let me tell you what waits for you if you decide to take your own life and you
die without Christ. HELL waits for you on the other side of that trigger. Hell - an eternity without Christ. Time
without end of the most unbearable, excruciating pain you could ever imagine. Darkness will surround you forever and all
you will hear is the screams and moans of those in the same torment you are in. All you will hear is the laughing taunts
of the demons you chose to align yourself with while you were yet alive on earth.
I have been a firefighter for the past five years. I have been in burning buildings where the temperatures have
reached more than 3000 degrees Fahrenheit and yet I know that doesn't even begin to come close to what hell will be
like. Imagine if you possibly can, some place so dark you cannot even see your hand an inch in front of your face.
Imagine if you can screaming for eternity; suffering torment a thousand times worse than Hitler inflicted upon the
Jewish people in those prison camps during World War 2. If you will, picture in your mind worms and maggots crawling in
and out of every part of your body, and being able to feel every agonizing second of it. Imagine hearing the words of
this article and those of each and every person who ever told you about Jesus and offered you the chance to spend
eternity with God in Heaven instead of being in Hell... and you rejected them, maybe even laughed at those 'Jesus
freaks'. Or maybe you thought all that 'religious junk' was just for the old folks, you know, the ones who were too old
to have 'fun' anymore. Maybe you told them, 'I don't care if I go to Hell, at least all my friends will be there'. They
might be, but you'll never see them or be able to talk to them. You'll be alone except for your own demons; and all this
will never end. It will go on forever.
Even this description doesn't even come close to what Hell will be like for you. Hell is not some pretty red fire
with a bunch of your friends there to greet you and some nice little red guy with horns like you see in some pictures.
In Job 24:20 scripture states, " The womb forgets them, the worm feasts on them; evil men are no longer
remembered, but broken like a tree". The womb forgets them; your own birthright has left you. The worm feasts on
them; you shall be tortured the likes of which you could not even imagine. Evil men are no longer remembered; evil men
such as Hitler shall be long forgotten and shall be given back their own.
Exodus 20:19 says, "Thou shall not murder". When you think of suicide you have already broken this
commandment, for suicide is murdering yourself and God shall judge you accordingly. Don't let things get to that point.
If your life is that bad find help somewhere. Go to your family, your friends or whoever you feel you can talk to but
never let yourself be taken by the Devil, the Enemy of your soul in such a dirty and cruel way. Jesus says in
John 10:10, "The thief (speaking of the Devil) comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they
might have life, and have it to the full". If you should try and take your own life then you are more of a fool
than the angel who fought God, (the Devil), and is now waiting for you in a place of everlasting pain and despair from
which there is no way out.
Even now as you sit contemplating suicide; or if you are reading this and know someone who has talked about killing
themselves, take the opportunity that is being offered to you. God is holding out His hand to you, take that hand, the
hand of the One who, for your sake, sent His only Son to die a horrible death on the cross just so you would not have to
spend an eternity in Hell. John 3:16 which says, "For God so loved the world He gave His only begotten Son,
that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life" are not just words in some book, they are
life. Don't let one more chance go by to accept Jesus into your life as your Lord and Savior. He is the only One who can
fill that void in your life. He is the One who can take a useless life and make it into something worthwhile. No matter
what you have done, no matter where you are right now all you have to do is reach out to Him, admit you are a sinner
(for all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God) and ask Him to come into your heart and help you change your
life. He will always be there for you. Take the time to read this article again from the top, for if you do not change
my friend, these are the things that await you on The Other Side Of The Trigger...
